The Fanny Pack Is Back

Yes, the fanny pack is back, and no, it's not going anywhere anytime soon!

Get the image of the bumbling tourist out of your mind.  Since their rise in popularity in the 1980s, fanny packs have come a long way.  Today, top fashion houses have given this once dowdy bag a high fashion makeover.

I decided to go with PRADA, a classic designer, and chose a black velvet option to spice up my look.  I have to say, I was surprised to find how much I loved this bag.  Before I started wearing it, I didn't expect how liberating it would feel to be hands-free.

This winter has been a little chilly in LA, and I’m not sure if you knew this, but I have a soft spot for fuzzy sweaters. I can’t get enough of this one from URBAN OUTFITTERS.  (It's just so cozy!) To complement the sweater, I paired it with my favorite ASOS pants. I can’t even tell you how much fun I have with these pants! Seriously, they can be styled so many different ways and are appropriate for both day and night looks.

I topped it off with a NEWSBOY CAP to add a little dash of attitude.  These are great as they too are very versatile and can be styled with a dressy or sporty outfit. Hats are one of the easiest and most immediate ways to piece together an outfit.

For this look, I choose to  mix dramatic colors and textures to get a high fashion, classic street style vibe, centered around the fanny pack.  It's the new “it” bag & YES, you definitely need one!!!

Stripe A Pose

The stripe is having a major moment this season.  Stripes are taking on a new personality, like this vertical & racing effect.   It stands out a little bit more in bold, primary look-at-me colors.  Worried about buying into trends, only to find them go out of style almost right away?  Well fear not, because stripes aren't only super popular but also time-tested.  (Not to mention very wearable.)

I’m sporting a two piece (super comfy) nautical stripe pajama inspired pantsuit by MISSGUIDED. This look easily transitions from day to night, simply by changing your accessories or hairstyle. To get the full exaggerated effect of the stripe, try the pattern in a WIDE LEG PANT as I did.

Another reason I opted for this set is that it incorporates another major trend found all over the runways, the robe-style jacket.  This long jacket is so flattering and really elongates the body, so it's perfect for every body type.

I finished the look off with a matching red YSL PURSE and whimsical HEART SUNGLASSES.  Who says fashion has to be so serious?  This season have fun with your look!
